Homeowners

OptiMiser software adds value, comfort, and convenience to your home.

Increasingly, homeowners understand that a home's price is only part of the cost of home ownership.  Maintenance and operating costs -- the 'care and feeding' of the house, in order to make it a comfortable place to live -- represent a significant cash outlay.

OptiMiser is a way for you to control these costs, while cutting down on a home's carbon footprint.  Some municipalities are even beginning to recognize that state-of-the-art home energy audits make sense at the time of sale, so that buyers can be aware of operating costs as well as up-front costs.

You'll appreciate the detailed per-item information OptiMiser provides for investment analysis and CO2 reduction of potential home improvements.  How do improvements measure up?  You can really get a handle on the value of improvements such as increasing insulation levels, sealing air leaks, changing out furnaces or air conditioning units, improving lighting efficiency, and buying efficient appliances.

In some localities, a portion of the cost of your home energy audit is subsidized.  Some utilities cover up to 60% of the cost, and there may be other programs sponsored by your municipality, county, or state energy office.  In addition, if you hire an approved contractor to do the work, you may qualify for rebates on such items as high-efficiency furnaces, central air, evaporative coolers, and insulation.  The federal government also recognizes the importance of energy efficiency improvements, and you may qualify for up to $1,500 in tax credits.
